As part of its mission to revolutionize urban development, NEOM has entered a landmark partnership with GMT Robotics, one of Europe’s leading construction technology innovators.
The agreement, facilitated through the NEOM Investment Fund (NIF), marks a strategic step toward integrating robotics and advanced automation into large-scale construction in Saudi Arabia. This partnership underscores NEOM’s commitment to reshaping not only what the cities of the future look like, but how they are built.
GMT Robotics, headquartered in Copenhagen, specializes in robotic solutions for the rebar industry. Their automated rebar cage assembly and handling systems are designed to drastically reduce on-site labor needs and enhance productivity, all while upholding high safety standards.
According to NEOM officials, the collaboration will enable offsite prefabrication, resulting in:
• Up to 90% reduction in on-site workforce
• Faster, safer, and more consistent build cycles
• Localized rebar production through NEOM-based facilities
This partnership places NEOM at the forefront of a global shift in construction practices. The construction robotics market, valued at $168.2 million in 2022, is forecasted to grow more than 360%, reaching $774.6 million by 2032. With automation, AI, and offsite manufacturing driving this evolution, NEOM is positioning itself as a central player in future-ready infrastructure.
